“I was
amazed at the beautiful Peranakan culture. My reaction was “WOW” as the
tour guide showed us around the museum and explained the different
aspects of the culture. The thing that interest me was how the Peranakans blended the different traditions and made their own culture. I learnt more about their history, traditions, clothing
and even their interesting wedding rituals.” - Ahny Mus
"I did not know there are different Peranakan communities out there. Through this tour, I learnt that there are others - Jawi Peranakan (from the Indian Muslim) and Chitty Melaka Peranakan (from the Hindu). It is interesting to see how the different traditions and cultures are blended into one. It's truly fascinating." - Mulyani
“The
Peranakan culture is deeply insightful to me and shows us the creativity of the
human race. This is because a fusion of cultures such as the Chinese culture
and the local culture is mixed with each attribute playing a unique role. One
example is getting the style of a Malay clothing design with a Chinese ceremony
like the Tea ceremony. Another example is adapting a Malay wedding procession
into having a Chinese flavour.” - Isa Keng
